Elohim in the Old Testament

  Do we see a plurality of God in the Old testament? Gen 1:1 “God (Elohim) created the heavens & the earth” Elohim is a plural word Gen 1:26 “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” The Father is speaking to someone. It makes sense in the context of plurality within the Godhead. But if God is speaking to the angel Michael, an angel wouldn’t have the same image our likeness as God. Gen 2:4 “These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God (Elohim) made the earth and the heavens” Elohim : plural word Gen 19:24 Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the LORD out of heaven. Baptism

  Q: Why is there a tests to be baptized?  The early church baptized right away as soon as someone confesses Jesus as their lord & saviour     Acts 2:38-41 Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins... 41  Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. Acts 16:30-33  “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”  They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. ELF Lessons 4 - 15

  Lesson 4: Read Exodus 3:14   according to God, what is his name?   “I am who I am.”   I am is his name.  The tetragrammaton is his eternal, covenant name.   Since Jesus is our example Q: why do you think that Jesus only refer to Yahweh as “Father” ? The tetragrammaton is not in the new testament at all. Since Jesus is our saviour, and we pray in his name as the mediator, isn’t his personal name important, too? What is the personal name of the Son of God? Isa 9:6 – Wonderful councilor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace   Jesus said that we will be Witnesses of him (Acts 1:8).   And that his is the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:10-12 ).    Q: why isn’t the organization known that Jesus (Yeshua) Witnesses?
